FEMA offers two unique programs especially for girls. Our goal is to have fun while learning new things and to help girls be stronger, healthier people. FEMA Girls - girls ages 6-12 train every Saturday from 9:30-11:00 AM with senior instructor Shimei Turtle Ferguson. In addition, the last Wednesday of the month is "Sensei Day" with FEMA founder and head instructor Sensei/Shifu Kore' Grate. FEMA Girls teaches and nurtures: - Safety and Respect

FEMA Teens - girls ages 13-17 belong to FEMA Leadership Youth, or FLY. FLY meets on Saturdays from 11:15 AM - 12:30 PM with senior instructor Shimei Chrissy Langsdorf. FLY students are also welcome to attend the regular adult classes with Sensei/Shifu Kore' Grate on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 PM as well as Friday review classes from 6:00-7:30 PM. FLY offers: - Self -defense exercises and techniques
- Energizing and rewarding workouts
- Stretching and strengthening
- Basics in the arts of Judo and Gong Fu
- How to block, kick and punch safely
- Meditation
These two programs were developed to create peer-group spaces to learn martial arts in a safe, fun and supportive environment. We explore the martial arts with our bodies, minds and spirits in a community that supports and believes in peace, progress, happiness, love, health and freedom. 1st class is always free! New students are always welcome to try out a free class at FEMA. Join us any Saturday for FEMA Girls at 9:30AM and FEMA Teens at 11:15AM. Arrive 15 minutes early to register and wear loose-fitting clothing Please note: A parent or guardian must be present at the first class to register. Tuition is sliding scale $45 - $100 per month. Additional fees include a Judo Uniform for $25-$35, an annual insurance fee of $25 and a student handbook of $25. Scholarships are available so please ask us if you need financial assistance. |
