At FEMA, we strive to make our programs affordable for all who wish to train with us. To that end, we offer a sliding scale for monthly dues and a scholarship program too. We also let you know up-front what all the costs are; there are no contracts or hidden fees here. Tuition Tuition is paid monthly on the first of the month. FEMA offers a sliding scale for tuition, based on 4.5-5.0% of your take-home pay. The minimum dues payment is $45 per month; please apply for a scholarship if you cannot pay the minimum. The Sliding Scale | DUES | $45 | $50 | $60 | $65 | $70 | $75 | $80 | $85 | $90 | $100+ | | INCOME | $1,000 | $1,100 | $1,200 | $1,300 | $1,400 | $1,500 | $1,600 | $1,700 | $1,800 | $2,000 | HOW THE SLIDING SCALE WORKS Please pay as much as you can afford each month. Use this scale as a guide. If your expenses for a specific month do not allow you to pay your full dues, please pay what you think you can that month. As a non-profit, F.E.M.A. relies heavily on the dues of its members for all operating costs. If you want to pay more than $100 in a given month, please do so. You may also make donations at any time. DUE DATE Please pay your dues by the first of the month. There is a $5 late fee on payments received after the 10th, unless arrangements are made with the bookkeeper. Please indicate on your check what month you are paying for and if the amount includes the $5 late fee. NOTE: Please make a note on your check to describe exactly what the money is for (e.g., T-shirts, gi/uniform, equipment, seminars, month covered by dues, late fee, etc.). For example, on the memo line you might write, "$15 T-shirt, $75 March dues". Also, if your name/student's name is not printed on the check please be sure to write it in at the top. FEMA GIRLS/FLY parents- Please write the student's NAME. Thank you! SCHOLARSHIPS A scholarship fund is available for people a) with no source of income, or b) whose monthly expenses make it impossible for them to pay the $45 minimum. Scholarship forms are available. Requests for scholarships are reviewed by the Steering Committee on a monthly basis. Please indicate on the scholarship form which month(s) you are requesting a scholarship. You may request a scholarship for a maximum of three months. If you need additional financial assistance at the end of the three-month period, you may submit a new scholarship form with your current financial information. RETAINING FEE Dues are not pro-rated. Unless you will be absent for a whole month or more, you are required to pay the entire month's dues. If you expect to be absent for a month or more, there is a $25 per month retaining/sabbatical fee. If you will be gone for an extended period, please see the bookkeeper.
